The philosophy of my protocol
I have lived beyond my expiration date… three times. In 2012 and again in 2013 and 2019, I was told I would be dead within weeks from Stage IV breast cancer. I’ve regained 99% mobility after losing full use of both legs and an arm and told I likely wouldn’t walk again. I have been NEAD (no evidence of active disease) since May 2014… but I am still considered ‘terminal’ by doctors. I ski, hike, scuba dive, etc. and look and feel better than before cancer. Everyone wants to know how I did it, hoping for a magic silver bullet. I don’t believe there is one. But I strongly believe that you can take charge of your healing and defy odds. This is my naturopathic anti-cancer protocol and the philosophy behind it.
I employed western medicine and an intensive naturopathic anti-cancer protocol. I am convinced that without both, I would not have accomplished my miracles. Tumors riddled my lungs, liver, lymph, every vertebrae and my entire pelvic girdle. Some gave me two weeks to live. My son was overseas and wouldn’t be home for two months. NO one thought I could make it that long. I threw everything at outliving my dire prognosis. Not expecting to have the success I did, I was simply buying time to say goodbye to my son. I felt I needed chemo and radiation to ‘blast the barnacles off the hull’ and said, “Give me everything you’ve got.”
I had 13 cycles (more than twice the standard of care), 5 different chemotherapies, and over 50 targeted radiation treatments… which is just nuts, except that it worked. But many people who die of cancer, actually die of the treatment they receive. So I knew I needed to develop a protocol that would detoxify, nourish, and support my organ systems and survive the toxins.
My first book, Whatever Doesn’t Kill You Makes You Strong, is an extended introduction to this book. In there, I tell of many battles in an ongoing war. Frankly, you should read it first, to get the most out of this book. A year after diagnosis of Stage 4, they found a rare and deadly type of brain metastases. Again with just weeks to live, I successfully combined two healing modalities and, I believe, broke all survival records.
All in all, I have done hundreds of things. Truthfully, I don’t ‘know’ which ones worked. Probably all of them, to some extent. I do have strong feelings about some. I choose to treat stage IV as a chronic disease I can manage instead of the terminal diagnosis they say it is. ‘Life’ is a terminal diagnosis, after all. For the record…. People with a terminal diagnosis really hate it when you say that.
Whatever Doesn’t Kill You, Makes You Strong also chronicles the transformation of my thought processes as a trained research scientist to a more intuitive and holistic seeker of knowledge. When you have been given weeks to live, you don’t have the luxury of waiting for that clinical trial that is just a gleam in some scientist’s eye. I opened my mind to convincing anecdotal reports of treatments that I could at least imagine how they might work based on science-based knowledge, even if peer-reviewed published studies didn’t yet exist.
I came to believe that part of me knows what is best for me and how to heal and I have honed my ability to access that knowledge and trust it. Everyone has that knowledge within, but most have lost touch with it. I hope to instill confidence in you that will put you back in touch with your higher, healing self.
You may conclude that I am a crackpot. But, I am a live and walking crackpot, against all odds. Almost everything I talk about has a much broader applicability to any chronic disease condition… even for healing from surgery or an injury. Whether you believe in intelligent design or evolution, or a hybrid, the human body is devoted to achieving homeostasis and healing itself and it is incredibly good at it…. if only we know when to get out of the way.
I share what I did… and do… and why. I do not tell you what youshould do. Please don’t take my word for anything beyond what it is… a sharing of my journey. Please pay attention to yourself, bring your subconscious knowledge into your conscious awareness, extract what resonates within you, and research whatever challenge you may be facing on your own. Take charge. Talk to doctors and healers, and your path will become clear. You are not alone. I love and support you in your quest. I believe in you because I believe in the indomitable human spirit. And I hope you do, too.
The philosophy of my naturopathic protocol is to transform my bioterrain so my body can fight disease and heal. Regardless of what disease condition your body is currently entertaining and what treatment options you choose, you can only benefit from the following principles going forward:
- Stop putting toxins in your body
- Get the toxins you have accumulated out
- Rectify nutritional and hormonal imbalances
- Boost your immune system
- Kill the little $*#@ing cancer cells! : )
- Balance stress and support emotional wellness
This post is from Book 2 of my Thrive Tribe Series, What I Did and Do and Why, a naturopathic protocol that helps me to survive and thrive, available from my bookstore, starting at $7. The book will be posted sequentially in its entirety on this blog, once a week. Subscriptions are free.
Disclaimer: Nothing I say should be construed as medical advice. I am not a doctor. I am a Stage IV metastatic breast cancer thriver who is currently NEAD (no evidence of active disease) and simply sharing what I did, and do, and why… my naturopathic anti-cancer protocol. Please research anything I share to determine if it is a good path for you. Bless you all on the path you choose.
