Post #2: Optimizing the immune system to kill cancer

Highlights from the International Integrative Oncology Conference – San Diego, April 2016

presentation by Thomas Ichim, PhD, Pan American Cancer Treatment Center

Accepting patients, the PanAm treatment Center optimizes the immune system to kill cancer and is developing a cancer vaccine. Dr. Ichim stated that everyone is subjected to cancerous mutations but that immune-suppressed patients have a 50-5000% higher incidence of cancer because their immune-system isn’t up to the job of fighting them. PanAm’s 15-day protocol which may or may not complement surgery, targets tumors in three basic ways:

  • reduces tumor volume by administering IV Vitamin C which selectively kills cancer cells.
  • induces an immune response against the blood vessels that feed tumors, thus “choking” the tumors. They have developed a vaccine, ValloVax, which they have used on over 100 metastatic patients. They have experienced no adverse events, have achieved complete remissions in over 40, and have experienced an absence of malignant tumor manifestations over the last 8 years.
  • repairs dendritic cells, thus stimulating your immune system to attack the cancer by administering ImmunoMax, an anti-viral which not only kills cancer cells but enables your T-cells to patrol the body for micrometastasis and TCM, a T-cell modulator, that inspires your T-cells to attack cancer.

My notes

I’m not clear on the difference between complete remission and absence of malignant tumors. I guess that means that some people still had tumors but they remained stable and that there was no new growth? They are based in Tijuana and I have no idea how much the protocol would cost you. They have one drug currently under review for clinical trials with the FDA and two more are being prepared and they have two peer-reviewed publications and so it may warrant further investigation.

I attended the 14th annual International Integrative Oncology Conference in San Diego as well as the accompanying Answers for Cancer Summit. The former is directed towards integrative oncologists and other cancer care professionals and the latter is for patients, caregivers, and other “laymen” interested in integrative therapies. It is put on by Annie Brandt, a 15-year cancer survivor and founder of the Best Answer for Cancer Foundation (www.thebestanswerforcancer.org) and I was truly impressed by the credentials of the presenters and the quality of the information presented. Truthfully I was a little over my head at times during the professionals conference as they bandied about acronyms faster than I could Google. Although they presented slide upon slide on medical research, I am not including the complete references for the most part because of the time required. I am only providing highlights, and only of subjects I deemed relevant to our day-to-day lives as cancer patients. I have tried to translate into laymen’s terms and provide just enough information so that you can research more fully on subjects that interest you. I encourage you to discuss these subjects with your oncologist. It was very comforting and refreshing to be surrounded by doctors and health professionals who absolutely understand the role of diet and lifestyle in fighting this devastating disease and incorporate this knowledge into their oncology practices.
